Racing Driver Michael Funke

Michael Funke, born on September 26, 1969, in Meerbusch, Germany, is a seasoned auto racing driver with a career spanning several decades. He made his mark in the German Touring Car Challenge, securing third place in both 1999 and 2000, followed by a runner-up position in 2001. In 2004, when the championship was rebranded as the DMSB Produktionswagen Meisterschaft, Funke continued his strong performance, finishing third for Hotfiel Sport.

In 2005, Hotfiel Sport transitioned to the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), where Funke served as a test and reserve driver. He stepped into a racing role, replacing Thomas Jäger for the final five rounds of the season. During this stint, he achieved a notable tenth-place finish. Beyond WTCC, Funke has also participated in the ADAC GT Masters series, showcasing his versatility across different racing formats. In the ADAC 1000km race at the Nürburgring, he teamed up with Claudia Hürtgen and Oliver Louisoder in a Morgan Plus 8, adding a unique presence among the predominantly Porsche entries.
