Joseph Mawson

Joseph "Joey" Mawson, born on March 27, 1996, is an accomplished Australian racing driver hailing from Hinchinbrook, Sydney. His career began in karting at the age of seven, where he quickly established himself as a dominant force, securing 19 state and 3 national titles between 2003 and 2012. Mawson's karting success also includes finishing second at the 2011 Rotax World Championships and winning a round of the CIK-FIA World Under 18 Championship in Bahrain in 2012. He was also named Australia's best karter in 2010.

Transitioning to open-wheel racing in 2014, Mawson made an immediate impact in French F4, winning on his debut. He then moved to ADAC Formula 4, finishing third in 2015 and winning the championship in 2016, ahead of Mick Schumacher. Mawson progressed to the FIA European Formula 3 Championship in 2017 and the GP3 Series in 2018, showcasing his talent on the international stage. In 2019, he switched to Porsche Supercup, achieving rookie podiums and an outright podium at Monza with Team Australia.

Returning to Australia in 2021, Mawson conquered the S5000 Championship, securing back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022. However, his career faced a setback in 2023 when he was provisionally suspended after testing positive for Mildronate, leading to a three-year ban from Motorsport Australia. Despite this, Mawson's achievements and talent mark him as a significant figure in Australian motorsport.
