John Edwards

John Edwards, born on March 11, 1991, is an American professional racing driver. Edwards began his racing journey remarkably early, entering the Skip Barber Series in 2003 and becoming the youngest open-wheel driver to win at Daytona at just 12 years old. His early career included stints in Europe, competing in Italian Karting and Formula Renault series. He returned to the United States and achieved significant success in the Star Mazda Series, winning the championship in 2008.

In 2010, Edwards transitioned to sports car racing, joining the Mazda factory team in the Rolex Sports Car Series. He secured a GT class win at Lime Rock that year. He further expanded his sports car experience with wins in the Nürburgring VLN Series for Schubert Motorsport. In 2013, he became a BMW factory driver, initially as a substitute, but quickly proved his talent by taking pole position and winning at Lime Rock. He continued racing for Stevenson Motorsports, achieving multiple wins and podiums in both the Rolex Series and the Continental Tire Sportscar Challenge.

Edwards' career highlights include a GTLM class victory at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2020 with BMW Team RLL. He frequently participated in international races such as the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa and the Nürburgring 24. Most recently, he competed in the Fanatec GT World Challenge America. In late 2023, Edwards announced he would be stepping away from racing to pursue a career in aviation, leveraging his existing passion for flying.
