Racing Driver James Sofronas

James Sofronas, born on September 9, 1968, is an accomplished American racing driver and the founder of Global Motorsports Group (GMG Racing). Sofronas began his racing career in the early 1990s and has since become a well-known figure in the SRO America paddocks. GMG Racing, which he founded, specializes in high-performance tuning and servicing of European automobiles and motorsports.

Sofronas's racing career highlights include multiple championship titles in the Pirelli World Challenge, including the overall GTA title and the SprintX GT Pro/Am title in 2017. In 2018, he secured the SprintX GTS title with co-driver Alex Welch, and he also won the GTS class title overall that same year. His early racing endeavors involved competing in the SCCA Pro Racing World Challenge in 1994, and he scored his first victory in the then-Speed World Challenge in 2008 at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

In recent years, Sofronas has been scaling back his on-track commitments to focus more on the business operations of GMG Racing. The team also operates a customer racing program in various SRO America series, including the GT America Series, GT4 America Series, and GT World Challenge America. GMG Racing has a close working relationship with Audi Sport, and in 2012, they became the first American providers of the Audi R8 LMS GT3. In 2023, Sofronas marked his 30th season of competition in the World Challenge/SRO America, showcasing his enduring passion and commitment to motorsports.
