Jakub Smiechowski

Jakub "Kuba" Śmiechowski, born on October 11, 1991, is a Polish racing driver and team principal. He is currently associated with Inter Europol Competition, a team founded by his father, Wojciech Śmiechowski. Jakub began his racing journey in karting before transitioning to single-seaters in 2009, competing in the Italian Formula Renault series. He then participated in the Formula Renault Northern European Cup (NEC), achieving a seventh-place finish in 2010.

Śmiechowski's career evolved into sports car racing in 2016, joining the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) in the LMP3 category. He secured the LMP3 championship title in the V de V Challenge in the same year, followed by further success in the Asian Le Mans Series, where he won the championship in the LMP3 class in 2018/19. This victory earned his team an invitation to the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2019. Progressing to the LMP2 category, Śmiechowski and Inter Europol Competition continued to make their mark, culminating in a historic LMP2 class win at the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans. This victory marked the first time the Polish national anthem was played at the event.

In addition to his on-track achievements, Jakub Śmiechowski is also the team principal of Inter Europol Competition. In 2023, he was partnered with Albert Costa and Fabio Scherer and secured a podium finish at Spa before their Le Mans victory. For 2025, he is scheduled to compete in both the European Le Mans Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Inter Europol Competition. Throughout his career, Jakub Śmiechowski has achieved 27 wins, 66 podiums, 15 pole positions and 16 fastest laps, demonstrating his skill and consistency in various racing series.
