Hitoshi Matsui

Hitoshi Matsui is a Japanese racing driver with a career spanning various racing series, demonstrating versatility and skill behind the wheel. Born on December 15, 1987, Matsui began his racing journey in karting in 2001, honing his skills in regional championships around Okayama. In 2006, he transitioned to single-seaters, immediately making an impact by winning the Okayama FJ1600 series with four victories. This success led to cameos in the national FJ1600 series at Motegi and Formula Toyota at Fuji Speedway. His talent caught the eye of Naohiro Fujita, who helped Matsui enter the Toyota Young Driver Program (TDP) in 2007 and compete in the Formula Challenge Japan series.

Matsui currently competes in Super GT for Hoppy Team Tsuchiya. A defining moment in his career came in 2016 when he secured the GT300 class championship in Super GT, partnering with Takeshi Tsuchiya. Further solidifying his reputation as a top driver, Matsui has also achieved significant success in the Super Taikyu endurance racing series, claiming four class championships in 2009, 2017, 2018, and 2022. In addition, he has twice emerged victorious in his class at the challenging Nürburgring 24 Hours. Beyond his driving achievements, Hitoshi Matsui also serves as the president of Power House Amuse, a well-regarded tuning shop known for its work with various Japanese sports cars.
