Gary Paffett

Gary Paffett, born on March 24, 1981, is a highly accomplished British racing driver with a career spanning various motorsport disciplines. He is most recognized for his success in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters), where he secured the championship title in both 2005 and 2018. Over fifteen years in the series, Paffett achieved over 185 starts, 23 wins, 48 podiums, 17 pole positions and 14 fastest laps. His long-standing association with Mercedes-AMG, dating back to 2003, saw him become a key figure within the team, even serving as their 'Team Captain'.

Beyond DTM, Paffett has also ventured into Formula E, initially as a driver for HWA RACELAB in the 2018/19 season. Later, he transitioned into a Sporting and Technical Advisor role for the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E team, contributing to their championship-winning campaigns in 2021 and 2022. His expertise extends to team management, as he led the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team.

Paffett's early career included karting and junior formulae in the UK, where he won the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award in 1999. He also served as a test driver for McLaren Formula One team during their successful title-winning years and later for Williams Formula One team. His career also included winning the British Formula 3 Scholarship Class in 2000, and then dominating the German Formula 3 with Team Rosberg. Gary Paffett continues to be involved in motorsport, currently as Sporting Director for the NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team.
