Edward mackay terzo Cheever

Edward McKay "Eddie" Cheever Jr., born on January 10, 1958, is an American former racing driver with a career spanning nearly 30 years across Formula One, sports cars, CART, and the Indy Racing League. Although American, Cheever spent part of his childhood in Rome and was exposed to motorsports at a young age. He is fluent in English, Italian and French.

Cheever holds the record for the most Formula One World Championship race starts by an American, with 132 starts out of 143 entries, driving for nine different teams between 1978 and 1989. He achieved nine podium finishes during his F1 career, driving for teams such as Osella, Ligier, Renault, Alfa Romeo, Haas Lola and Arrows. While he never secured a win in Formula 1, he consistently demonstrated his talent and determination. In 1990, Cheever transitioned to the CART series in the United States, achieving a strong debut by finishing eighth at the Indianapolis 500 and earning the Rookie of the Year award.

Later in his career, Cheever formed his own Indy Racing League team, Team Cheever, in 1996. A highlight of his career arrived in 1998 when he won the Indianapolis 500 as both the owner and driver. Post-retirement from driving, Eddie Cheever has remained involved in motorsports, and his legacy continues through his son, Eddie Cheever III, who is also a successful racing driver.
