IndyCar Series

IndyCar Series Overview

The NTT IndyCar Series is the premier open-wheel racing series in North America, sanctioned and owned by INDYCAR, LLC. It features high-speed action on a diverse schedule that includes traditional high-banked ovals, challenging road courses, and demanding street circuits across the United States and occasionally in Canada and Japan. The series is most famous for hosting the Indianapolis 500, an iconic event held annually at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which is considered the largest single-day sporting event in the world. IndyCar utilizes technically advanced, standardized chassis (currently Dallara DW12 with manufacturer-specific aero kits) powered by either Chevrolet or Honda engines, ensuring tight competition. The series is lauded for its close racing thanks to less restrictive aero rules compared to Formula 1, and it famously includes competitors from various international racing backgrounds, making it a true global spectacle of open-wheel talent. The championship battle runs across the entire season, culminating in a final race to crown the series champion.
