Emerging Stars on the China Cup Battlefield
"Rising Stars Shine on the Track" was the main theme of the first half of the CTCC China Cup 2025 season. From the beginning of the season, several highly talented drivers emerged, achieving numerous successes.
In late April, the annual season opener kicked off in Jiading, Shanghai. The Han Chang/Jin Bian duo took an early lead in the first round, securing a winning start for the Zhuzhou Jiren Ziyou Tianxiang Racing Team. The Jiangmen Xingrui Racing Team, competing with a single-driver crew, made a strong comeback in the second round, with Cheng Chunhua taking the overall championship.
In May, the Zhejiang Ningbo round commenced under the sweltering summer heat. The racing tires on the track demonstrated excellent stability in the hot weather, providing a solid foundation for the drivers' pursuit of success. In the first round, the Zhuzhou Jiren Ziyou Tianxiang Racing Team's No. 21 car, driven by Han Chang and Jin Bian, secured another victory, standing shoulder-to-shoulder on the top podium. In the second round, Yan Chuang of the Fancy Zongheng Racing Team's No. 27 car achieved a breakthrough, winning both the overall championship and the TCS category title.
At the end of June, in Shaoxing Keqiao, a sudden downpour at the end of the first round of the race forced an early end to the competition. Gao Huayang of the SAIC Volkswagen 333 team managed a dramatic comeback, securing his first win of the season. In the second round, Yang Zheng, a young driver from the 300+ team, outperformed a group of veteran drivers to claim the overall championship, witnessing a shining moment for a rising star.
TCR Asia Series: International Driver Showdown
The TCR Asia Series, featuring many renowned touring car drivers from China and the Asia-Pacific region, was equally exciting. In the first round of the year held at the Shanghai International Circuit, Zhang Qianshang, with years of experience in GT and touring car racing, representing Chengdu RevX Racing, showcased his skills in the 13-lap sprint, winning the first round. Liu Zichen, a key member of the Zhejiang 326 team, launched a strong comeback in the second round at the Shanghai Jiading station, crossing the finish line with a significant 15-second advantage to claim the championship trophy.
In the Ningbo, Zhejiang leg of the race, Zhang Qianshang once again displayed exceptional competitive form in the first round, securing another victory. In the second round, frequent track accidents disrupted the race multiple times, but Liu Zichen maintained a steady pace, leading all the way to the championship.
After four rounds of the TCR Asia Series, Zhang Qianshang and Liu Zichen each have two wins, occupying the top two spots in the driver standings. In addition, several rising stars, including Sun Juran of Guangzhou Spark Racing and Chen Haoting of Team TRC, also demonstrated outstanding speed.
