The 2025 FIA Formula Regional World Cup will take place at the legendary Guia Circuit in Macau from 13 to 16 November 2025, forming the single world-level competition for the Formula Regional category. The event is sanctioned by the FIA and organized by the Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee under the authority of the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Associação Geral de Automóvel de Macau-China.
Event Structure and Status
According to Article 5 of the Sporting Regulations, the event has international status and comprises two races:
- Race 1 – Qualifying Race: 10 laps (61.17 km) or 60 minutes maximum.
- Race 2 – The Macau Grand Prix (Final Race): 15 laps (91.755 km) or 60 minutes maximum, with suspension time added if required.
Each lap of the 6.2 km (3.8 mi) Guia Circuit runs clockwise through Macau’s narrow streets, combining fast straights with tight corners such as Lisboa Bend and Melco Hairpin.
If a driver cannot start Race 1, the stewards may allow participation in Race 2 upon request. The Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee reserves the right to postpone, cancel, or abandon the event without compensation in the event of force majeure.
Title and Awards
The FIA Formula Regional World Cup title will be awarded to the driver who completes Race 2 in the shortest overall time after covering the full race distance. If Race 2 cannot be run, the Race 1 winner will be declared the World Cup champion .
In addition:
- Trophies go to the top three finishers in the Qualifying Race and the top ten in the Grand Prix.
- The Team Trophy is awarded to the team registering the winning car.
- All starters receive US $500, with prize money scaling up to US $12,000 for the Grand Prix winner.
- Special bonuses include US $1,000 for Race One pole, US $500 for fastest lap and Speed Trap Award per race .
Eligibility and Entry
Drivers must hold at least an FIA International Grade C licence and be at least 16 years old.
Eligible competitors are those with experience in single-seater cars having a power-to-weight ratio over 3.0 kg/bhp, but not in vehicles below 1.5 kg/bhp. A maximum of three starts in FIA F2 2025 is permitted for eligibility. Entry is by invitation, prioritizing top performers from the 2025 Formula Regional Championships.
Each driver must complete an FIA training programme and pay a €5,000 entry fee .
Participating Cars
The grid is limited to 30 cars, all conforming to the 2025 FIA Formula Regional Technical Regulations (Appendix J, Article 275).
Permitted homologations include:
- Chassis – 2018-01-F3R-Tatuus
- Gearbox – 2018-01-F3R-Sadev
- Engine Kit – 2018-01-F3R-Tatuus 05/02 EK
- Engine Type – ATM 2018-01-F3R (extension no. 2) .
Organisation and Officials
The FIA nominates the Race Director, Technical Delegate, Medical Delegate, and other officials, while the Macau SAR authorities oversee local organization and insurance.
All teams, drivers, and officials are bound by the FIA International Sporting Code and the event’s Technical and Sporting Regulations .
Significance
The 2025 edition marks the 72nd Macau Grand Prix and the inaugural running of the FIA Formula Regional World Cup under unified regulations. This event bridges regional F3-level championships with the global stage, giving rising single-seater drivers the opportunity to compete for an FIA World Cup title on one of the world’s most demanding street circuits.
