Brian Vickers

Brian Lee Vickers, born on October 24, 1983, is an American former professional stock car and sports car racing driver. Vickers began racing go-karts at a young age, winning eighty races and three championships in the World Karting Association before moving to stock cars.

Vickers transitioned to the NASCAR Busch Series (now Xfinity Series) in 2001 and, in 2003, secured a ride with Hendrick Motorsports, where he won the NASCAR Busch Series championship. That same year, he made his Sprint Cup debut. In 2004, Vickers was promoted to the Sprint Cup as a full-time driver with Hendrick Motorsports. 2006 was Vickers' last season with Hendrick, though he won his first race, the UAW Ford 500. The next season, Vickers joined Red Bull Racing, remaining with the team until 2011. For the next few years, Vickers raced part-time at Michael Waltrip Racing, eventually winning a full-time ride for the 2014 season. His career highlights include the 2003 NASCAR Busch Series Championship and multiple wins in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Vickers' career was unfortunately marred by health issues, including blood clots and heart problems, that caused him to miss races and ultimately led to his departure from full-time racing. His last drive was in 2016 in the No. 14 Chevrolet SS for Stewart-Haas Racing as an interim driver. Beyond racing, Vickers has been an advocate for blood clot awareness and has also shown an interest in the stock market and investments.
