Born on December 15, 1951, in Bronxville, New York, but with ties to South Africa, Patterson began his racing journey later in life, around the age of 50, after a successful career in finance, including a senior position at Credit Suisse. He's competed in various racing series, including the FIA World Endurance Championship and the Asian Le Mans Series.
