Mark Martin

Mark Anthony Martin, born on January 9, 1959, in Batesville, Arkansas, is a retired American stock car racing driver. Nicknamed "The Kid," Martin is widely regarded as one of the greatest drivers to never win a NASCAR Cup Series championship, finishing as the runner-up five times (1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2009). He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2017.

Martin's career spanned from 1981 to 2013, during which he made 882 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series, amassing 40 wins, 61 second-place finishes, and 56 poles. A significant portion of his success came while driving the No. 6 Ford for Roush Racing from 1988 to 2006, where he secured 35 Cup Series victories. Beyond the Cup Series, Martin excelled in what is now the Xfinity Series, holding the record for the most wins (49) for 14 years. He also boasts five IROC (International Race of Champions) championships and holds the record for the most IROC race wins (13).

Known for his dedication and longevity, Martin continued to compete at a high level well into his early fifties. Even after leaving Roush Racing, he drove for prominent teams like Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Hendrick Motorsports. His final Cup Series win came in 2009 at the age of 50, underscoring his enduring talent and passion for racing. Martin is now a driver development coach with Jack Roush.
