Gabriel Chaves

Gabriel Chaves, born on July 7, 1993, is a Colombian-American racing driver who has made a name for himself in both open-wheel and sports car racing. Chaves began his racing journey in karting, securing multiple titles before transitioning to car racing in 2007 in the Skip Barber series. His early career highlights include winning the 2009 Formula BMW Americas title with Eurointernational, claiming five wins and three poles. He further honed his skills in Europe, competing in the Italian Formula Three Championship and earning Rookie of the Year honors in 2010.

Chaves returned to the United States and continued his ascent in the racing world. He achieved significant success in Indy Lights, culminating in the 2014 championship title with Belardi Auto Racing. That season saw him capture four wins, including the prestigious Freedom 100, and secure an impressive 11 podium finishes in 14 races. This success propelled him to the IndyCar Series, where he raced full-time, demonstrating his talent by leading 31 laps at Pocono Raceway in 2015.

Currently, Chaves competes in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the Michelin Pilot Challenge. He joined the DeltaWing project in 2014 for endurance races, showcasing his versatility. In 2020, he partnered with Bryan Herta Autosport in the Michelin Pilot Challenge, adding to his diverse racing portfolio.
