Bill Auberlen

William "Bill" Auberlen, born on October 12, 1968, is a highly accomplished American race car driver, renowned for his enduring and successful relationship with BMW. Hailing from Redondo Beach, California, Auberlen's career began in motocross in the 1970s before transitioning to IMSA GTU in 1987. His dedication and skill quickly became apparent, culminating in an IMSA GT3 Championship in 1997 while driving a BMW M3. He also secured the Grand-Am GT Series championship in 2002 and 2004.

Auberlen's name is synonymous with BMW, having driven for the marque in over 500 races, more than any other driver globally. He holds the record for the most wins in IMSA history. He has also participated in prestigious events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 24 Hours of Daytona, demonstrating his versatility across different racing formats. Beyond his achievements behind the wheel, Auberlen's influence extends to mentoring emerging talents, reflecting his commitment to the sport's future. Currently, Auberlen is competing for ST Racing in the SRO GT World Challenge America, driving a BMW M4 GT3, and is contracted with them until 2026 which will mark his 30th year with BMW.

Throughout his illustrious career, Auberlen has secured six professional auto racing championships, four of which were with BMW. His impressive stats include over 90 race victories, 180+ podium finishes and numerous pole positions. Auberlen's passion for racing extends beyond driving; he has also designed high-performance boats and bikes, showcasing his technical expertise and innovative spirit. His contributions to motorsports have been recognized with his induction into the Motorsports Walk of Fame in Long Beach.
