Lim began his motorsport journey in karting, achieving significant success by winning the Malaysia Junior Karting Championship in 1999 and the Malaysia Senior Karting Championship in 2002. He further honed his skills competing in several karting events in Europe from 2002 to 2004, including Italian, French, European, and World Championships. More recently, Aaron Lim Say Joon participated in the 2024 Motul 12 Hours of Sepang, driving the #5 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II for Absolute Racing alongside Haziq Zairel Oh and Hairie Zairel Oh.
