Lawrence Neil Tomlinson, born on July 24, 1964, is a British businessman and accomplished racing driver. He grew up in Batley, West Yorkshire, and pursued engineering at Huddersfield College before being sponsored by Wellman Bibby for an engineering degree at Bradford University. He is the chairman of the LNT Group, which encompasses several businesses, including Ginetta Cars, Ideal Care Homes, LNT Construction, and LNT Software. Beyond his entrepreneurial ventures, Tomlinson is a passionate and successful racing driver.
Tomlinson's most notable achievement in motorsport is winning the GT2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2006 with a Team LNT Panoz Esperante. In 2005, he acquired Ginetta Cars and has since overseen its growth into a significant player in the global motorsport scene. He was instrumental in designing the Ginetta G50, a car that competes in GT championships worldwide and has its own Ginetta GT Supercup series in the UK. He even raced the Ginetta-Zytek GZ09S, developed in-house, in 2009, with Nigel Mansell also racing it in 2010.
Tomlinson's contributions to engineering have been recognized with three Honorary Doctorates from the University of Huddersfield, the University of Bradford, and Leeds Metropolitan University. He is dedicated to providing opportunities for aspiring drivers to enter top-level racing. He was also the Institute of Directors' Overall Director of the Year in 2013 and advised the Government on business issues as the Serial Entrepreneur in Residence in the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills in 2013–14.
