Sebastian Montoya

Sebastian "Sebas" Montoya Freydell, born on April 11, 2005, is a Colombian-American racing driver currently competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Prema Racing. As a member of the Red Bull Junior Team and the son of former Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya, Sebastian has been making a name for himself in the world of motorsports.

Montoya's journey began in karting, where he honed his skills before transitioning to single-seater racing in 2020. He competed in the Italian and ADAC Formula 4 Championships, achieving 12 podium finishes over two seasons. In 2022, he progressed to the Formula Regional European Championship and also participated in IMSA Sportscar racing. That year, he also made a guest appearance in FIA Formula 3, scoring points in both races at Zandvoort with Campos Racing. He competed full-time in FIA Formula 3 in 2023 with Hitech Pulse-Eight and then returned to Campos Racing in 2024, earning two podiums across the two seasons.

In 2025, Montoya steps up to FIA Formula 2 with Prema Racing. Before that, he gained experience in endurance racing, testing a car in the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship rookie test. In 2023, he competed in the European Le Mans Series, driving alongside his father for DragonSpeed USA in the LMP2 category, finishing seventh in the standings.
