Martin Tomczyk, born on December 7, 1981, is a German professional racing driver with a career highlighted by his success in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM). Tomczyk began his racing journey in karting before progressing to Formula BMW and Formula Three. He entered the DTM in 2001. After several years of development, Tomczyk secured his first DTM victory in 2006 at Catalunya and continued his ascent, finishing third overall in the 2007 season.
His most significant achievement came in 2011 when he won the DTM championship driving for Team Phoenix. Throughout his DTM career, Tomczyk achieved eight wins, eight poles, and 31 podium finishes, demonstrating his consistent performance and competitive edge. Beyond DTM, Tomczyk has participated in various international racing events, including the FIA World Endurance Championship and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, driving for BMW.
In recent years, Tomczyk transitioned from full-time racing to motorsport management. He served as the series manager for the DTM Trophy and became the managing director of Abt Sportsline in 2023. His extensive experience and leadership skills have made him a valuable asset in the motorsport industry. His father Hermann is the president of the Deutscher Motor Sport Bund.
