Akshay Luciano Bacheta, born on April 26, 1990, is a British racing driver with Indian and Italian heritage. Bacheta began karting at 14, transitioning to cars in 2005 in the Ginetta Junior series, showcasing early talent with six wins. In 2006, he clinched the T Cars Championship, edging out Max Chilton. His move to open-wheel racing saw him finish third in the Formula Palmer Audi Autumn Trophy, with a race win at Snetterton.
Bacheta's career progressed through Formula Renault, where he competed in both the Eurocup and West European Cup in 2008. In 2010, he secured the runner-up position in the Eurocup Formula Renault. 2012 marked a significant achievement as he won the FIA Formula Two Championship, earning him a Formula 1 test.
Beyond single-seaters, Bacheta has participated in various GT series, including the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup and the Renault Sport Trophy, achieving third in the standings in the latter in 2015. He has also competed in the European Le Mans Series and the Auto GP Series, demonstrating his versatility across different racing disciplines. He was elected as a full member of the British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) in 2012.
