Ignas Gelzinis

Ignas Gelzinis, born on February 28, 1991, is a prominent Lithuanian racing driver, known for his versatility across various racing series. He currently competes in the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain championship, showcasing his talent in the competitive world of Porsche racing. Ignas's older brother, Jonas Gelzinis, is also a racing driver, contributing to a strong racing heritage within the family.

Gelzinis's career began in the Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom, where he competed from 2012 to 2013. In his rookie year, he secured 10th place in the final standings. Transitioning to Porsche racing, he joined the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Central Europe in 2014. This move proved fruitful, as he quickly adapted to the new machinery, achieving his first podium finish at the Poznan Circuit. He went on to secure his first victory in the series at the Salzburgring, followed by multiple podiums and another win, ultimately finishing second in the championship.

In 2015, Ignas returned to the United Kingdom to participate in the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain. Despite facing a challenging field, he demonstrated his skill by leading the Pro-AM1 class early in the season. After losing the lead temporarily, he regained his position with wins at Silverstone and Brands Hatch, ultimately clinching the Pro-AM1 championship in his debut year. Beyond racing, in 2013, Ignas was recognized as Europe's most promising young driver by the FIA Institute, earning a spot in their Young Driver Excellence Academy.
