Henry Schmitt is an American racing driver with a passion for BMWs, which runs deep. Beyond owning BMW San Francisco, a family business of over 40 years, Schmitt began his professional racing career in 2018, focusing on GT and touring car competitions. He has participated in series such as the GT World Challenge America, GT4 America and USTCC.
Driving a #87 BMW M6 GT3 for Stephen Cameron Racing, Schmitt partnered with Greg Liefooghe in the GT World Challenge America. Schmitt's racing journey started with outdoor karts and championships that opened the door to the Jim Russell school in Sonoma. He transitioned to touring cars, embracing the close racing dynamic of TC, GT, and sedan racing. Schmitt also owns a BMW Motorsport Collection with storied race cars, and has been seen racing a 1978 BMW M1 Procar in vintage events.
Schmitt continues to challenge himself, racing at a high level. His favorite racing memory is watching races with his father. He sports a custom BMW Motorsport helmet design, reflecting his deep connection with the brand.
