Didier Calmels, born on July 16, 1951, is a French entrepreneur, lawyer, and racing driver. He is known for co-founding the Formula 1 team Larrousse-Calmels. Calmels studied law and economics in the 1970s and began his career as a lawyer in 1974, specializing in business law and the restructuring of financially troubled companies.
Calmels's passion for motorsport led him to participate in various racing events. In 2017, he aimed to participate in the Indy 500, demonstrating his continuous pursuit of challenges in the sport. Info indicates that he has been involved in French motorsports for over forty years. More recently, in 2018, he participated in the Le Mans Classic - Porsche Classic Race and in 2020, the Classic Endurance Racing 1 - GT1 class.
Beyond racing, Calmels has been a significant figure in French motorsport. He managed driver Philippe Alliot and co-owned the Larrousse-Calmels Formula 1 team. Calmels was also associated with Signatech-Alpine in the World Endurance Championship, which secured the LMP2 title in 2016 and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
