Simon Knap, born on March 8, 1989, in Assendelft, Netherlands, is a Dutch racing driver with a diverse career spanning various racing disciplines. Beyond the track, Knap also works as a truck mechanic for St van den Brink in Wormerveer. His racing journey began at the age of eight in karting, where he quickly demonstrated his talent and dedication. Knap progressed through different karting classes, achieving significant success, including a 2nd place in the Dutch Championship Sprint in 2004 and a Dutch Championship title in the Kings of Karting Super Pro class in 2006.
Transitioning to Formula Ford in 2005, Knap continued his winning ways, securing 2nd place in the Formula Ford First Division in his debut year. He later clinched the Dutch and Benelux Formula Ford championships in 2008. In 2009, he shifted his focus to GT racing, initially competing in the Dutch GT4 series and later making his mark in the ADAC GT Masters in Germany, where he achieved a memorable home win at Zandvoort in 2012. Knap's career highlights include winning the 2019 European GT4 Series title with Alec Udell, driving a BMW M4 GT4 prepared by MDM Motorsport.
In recent years, Knap has remained active in GT racing, participating in the GT4 European Series and the German NES 500 competition. His early 2021 plans involved joining Spirit Racing to compete in the German NES 500 with teammate Rob Nieman in a Renault Clio. While the 24 Hours of Le Mans remains a long-term aspiration for Knap, his proven ability and dedication to the sport suggest a promising future in the world of motorsports.
