Phillip Hyett, born on August 10, 1983, is an American racing driver who made a relatively recent entry into the world of motorsports. Beyond racing, Hyett is known as a software developer, technology entrepreneur, and co-founder of GitHub.
Hyett's racing career began in 2022 in the GT World Challenge America, driving for Team Hardpoint. In the same year, he debuted in the FIA World Endurance Championship. In 2022, Hyett founded AO Racing, an IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT Daytona program, to compete in GT3 races. In 2023, Hyett and Gunnar Jeannette partnered with Team Project 1 for a full season. He also participated in the Asian Le Mans Series, showcasing improved pace and securing his first pole position at the Dubai Autodrome. In 2024, Hyett participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, driving an AO Racing Oreca 07 run by TF Sport.
More recently, Hyett has been competing in the LMP2 class of the IMSA SportsCar Championship with AO Racing, achieving notable success, including multiple pole positions.
