Tarso Marques

Tarso Anibal Santanna Marques, born on January 19, 1976, is a Brazilian racing driver whose career spanned various motorsport disciplines. Marques began karting at age 11 and quickly progressed to Formula Chevrolet in Brazil, winning the championship in his first attempt at just 16 years old. He continued his ascent in open-wheel racing, competing in Formula Three Sudamericana and European Formula 3000, becoming the youngest driver to win races in both series.

Marques made his Formula 1 debut with Minardi in 1996, driving in selected races over three separate seasons (1996, 1997, and 2001). While he didn't score any championship points, he gained experience alongside drivers such as Giancarlo Fisichella, Jarno Trulli, and Fernando Alonso. Financial constraints often influenced his opportunities, as Minardi favored drivers with strong sponsorship. After his time in F1, Marques ventured into American Champ Car racing in 1999 and 2000, catching the attention of Roger Penske.

In later years, Marques diversified his career, participating in Stock Car Brasil and even trying his hand at NASCAR. Beyond racing, he established a successful custom design business, Tarso Marques Concept, specializing in cars, motorcycles, yachts, and aircraft. He also appeared on and won a celebrity version of "Survivor" in Brazil. More recently, he has worked in television as a presenter and analyst.
