Pangkalahatang-ideya ng Racer
Mitchell Cheah is a Malaysian racing driver who has been making a name for himself in the world of motorsports. Born on March 29, 1998, Cheah began his racing journey at the age of 12, fueled by his father's passion for the sport. By 17, he was competing in both go-karts and cars, demonstrating his versatility and commitment early on. His career highlights include participating in Formula Renault in China, securing multiple wins in local touring car races, and achieving first runner-up in the Sepang 1000km Endurance Race as part of a privateer team. In 2017, he was honored as the National Driver of the Year at the Shell SIC Motorsports Association of Malaysia Awards.
Cheah's career progressed into touring cars, where he made significant strides, including competing in the TCR Asia series and later in TCR Germany and World TCR races. He was the first Asian driver to compete in the Touring Car Series in Germany in 2019, a milestone he considers particularly significant. In 2021, Mitchell was announced as one of the Hyundai Junior Drivers. While he has faced challenges in securing consistent sponsorship, particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic, Cheah remains focused on local racing and aspires to return to international competitions in the future, potentially in TCR or GT3 categories.
Currently, Cheah participates in the Malaysia Championship Series (MCS), driving a Suzuki Swift for team Hirev Dream Chaser and also competes in the Sepang 1000 Kilometers and the Toyota Gazoo series in Malaysia. Despite the difficulties in securing international opportunities, Mitchell’s determination and talent continue to mark him as a driver to watch in the racing world.
