Maxwell Esterson

Maxwell Esterson, born on October 9, 2002, is an American racing driver currently competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Trident Motorsport. Esterson's journey into motorsports began unconventionally, as he honed his skills in online sim racing, quickly rising to become one of the top iRacers in the United States before transitioning to real-world racing.

Esterson made his single-seater debut in 2020 in the F1600 Championship Series, showcasing his talent with a win and multiple podium finishes. He then moved to the UK to further his racing career. In 2021, he competed in the BRSCC Avon Tyres National Formula Ford Championship, securing two wins and finishing third overall. A significant achievement came that year when he won the Walter Hayes Trophy, becoming only the fourth American to do so. He continued his success in 2022 by winning the prestigious Formula Ford Festival, joining a list of previous winners that includes notable names like Jenson Button and Mark Webber.

In 2024, Esterson stepped up to the FIA Formula 3 Championship with Jenzer Motorsport, marking his first full season in international competition. He demonstrated his potential with strong qualifying performances, including a front-row start at the British Grand Prix, and scored points during the season. He also participated in the final two weekends of the Formula 2 season with Trident Motorsport before securing a full-time drive with the team for the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship season. Outside of racing, Esterson enjoys fitness, sim racing, and is a fan of ice hockey. His racing hero is Kimi Raikkonen, and he describes his racing style as measured and smart, aiming to make high-percentage moves on track.
