Hugh Esterson

Hugh Esterson is an emerging American racing driver making his mark in the world of motorsports. Born and raised in New York City, Esterson's passion for racing ignited early, spending Sundays watching Formula 1 before church. While relatively new to the driver's seat, his dedication and rapid progress are turning heads in the racing community. Currently a senior at Duke University studying Statistics and Data Science, Esterson balances his academic pursuits with his burgeoning racing career.

Esterson's racing journey began in Formula Ford/F1600 cars, with early testing at Team Pelfrey in 2020. He quickly demonstrated his talent by winning two national-level SCCA race events at Homestead-Miami Speedway and Sebring International Raceway in January 2021. This success led him to compete in the Formula Race Promotions (FRP) F1600 Championship Series with Team Pelfrey in 2021, where he secured eight podium finishes and two fastest race laps, finishing fifth overall. Hugh has also competed in the Walter Hayes Trophy and the BRSCC Formula Ford Festival.

Continuing his racing development, Esterson entered the 2022 season with a focus on improvement and consistency. He draws inspiration from his younger brother, Max Esterson, who competes in the GB3 Championship in England and FIA Formula 2 Championship. Hugh's experience includes internships with a NASCAR and IndyCar team, along with work for an AI company focused on data science in NASCAR, showcasing a well-rounded understanding of the sport. Esterson's determination and analytical approach position him as a rising star with a promising future in racing.
