Daniel Charles Anthony Ticktum, born on June 8, 1999, is a British racing driver currently competing in Formula E for Kiro Race Co. Ticktum's career has been marked by both significant talent and considerable controversy. Starting in karting at age eight, he quickly achieved national titles before transitioning to single-seater racing in 2015 in MSA Formula. However, his early career was overshadowed by a two-year ban (one year suspended) for intentionally crashing into a rival during a race.
Despite this setback, Ticktum returned to motorsport and joined the Red Bull Junior Team in 2017. He demonstrated his skill by winning the prestigious Macau Grand Prix in both 2017 and 2018. He also finished as runner-up in the 2018 FIA Formula 3 European Championship. His career path took him through Super Formula and FIA Formula 2, where he secured wins and podiums, including a victory at Silverstone. In 2020 he joined Williams Driver Academy as a development driver, he was later released in 2021.
Ticktum made the move to Formula E in the 2021/22 season. He initially joined the NIO 333 team. He has since shown flashes of brilliance in the all-electric series. Despite his proven talent, Ticktum's career has been turbulent, with periods of success interspersed with controversies. He continues to strive for consistent performance and to solidify his position in Formula E.
