Gabriele Tarquini

Gabriele Tarquini, born on March 2, 1962, is a highly accomplished Italian racing driver with a career spanning several decades and disciplines. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest touring car racers of all time. Tarquini began his racing journey in karting at the age of 14 before progressing to Formula 3000. He participated in 78 Formula One Grands Prix between 1987 and 1995, driving for teams like Osella, Coloni, and Tyrrell, securing a single championship point in 1989.

However, Tarquini truly made his mark in touring car racing. He clinched the prestigious British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) in 1994 with Alfa Romeo and went on to win the European Touring Car Championship in 2003. His career reached new heights when he secured the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) in 2009 with SEAT, becoming the oldest FIA World Champion at the time, at the age of 47. Demonstrating remarkable longevity and skill, Tarquini added another world title to his collection by winning the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) in 2018 at the age of 56 driving for Hyundai.

After retiring from racing in 2021 at the age of 58, Gabriele Tarquini continues to contribute to the world of motorsports as a team manager for Hyundai, sharing his expertise and passion for the sport. Beyond racing, he enjoys fishing and playing golf.
