Samantha Tan, born on August 9, 1997, is a Canadian racing driver and team owner who has made significant strides in the world of motorsports. Currently competing in the GT World Challenge America with her team, Samantha Tan Racing, which she co-owns with her father, Kenneth Tan, Samantha is also a global ambassador for BMW M Motorsport.
Tan's racing journey began at 16, participating in National Auto Sport Association events with a modified 1991 Honda Civic. She then advanced to the 2014 Canadian Touring Car Championship, driving a Mini Cooper. In 2015, she debuted in the Pirelli World Challenge in a Kia Forte Koup, followed by a season in a Honda Civic Si, finishing 6th overall. Since 2017, Tan has been racing BMW machinery, starting with a BMW M235iR and later progressing to GT4 and GT3-class cars.
In 2021, Samantha ventured outside North America to compete in the 24H Series, where she secured her first championships as both a driver and team owner, including a victory at the 2021 Dubai 24 Hour. She continues to break barriers as a prominent Asian woman in a traditionally male-dominated sport, using her platform to promote inclusivity and challenge stereotypes. Tan graduated with an Economics degree from UC Irvine in March 2020.
