Sebastian Kornely: A Late Bloomer with a Drive to Succeed
Sebastian Kornely, born on January 28, 1989, is a German racing driver whose motorsport career began later than most, starting with karting at the age of 16. Despite the late start, Kornely quickly made his mark, demonstrating a natural talent and passion for racing. In 2011, he founded his own racing team, "Kornely Motorsport" e.U., marking his entry into touring car racing with the Porsche Sports Cup Germany. What began as a small team from the Eifel region rapidly evolved into a well-respected professional racing outfit.
Kornely's career took a significant step in 2015 with a relocation to Kelberg, right next to the Nürburgring, signaling a new era for his team. Utilizing a range of touring cars and GT3 vehicles from manufacturers like Mercedes-AMG and Porsche, Kornely Motorsport achieved numerous successes and championship titles in various national and international racing series. More recently, from 2021 to 2023, Kornely competed in the DTM Trophy with an Audi R8 LMS GT4. Beyond driving, Kornely launched the "raceAHRdonation" fundraising campaign, showcasing his commitment to causes beyond the track.
Driven by a desire to refocus on his personal sporting goals after his success as a team owner, Kornely remains an active racer. Standing at 182 cm, Kornely holds an International C-License and a Nordschleife Permit (Grade B). He leverages his extensive experience through "Active Coaching," offering coaching services for beginners and data analysis during races. Kornely also serves as a brand ambassador, using his motorsport presence to represent brands and foster new business opportunities. His experience includes test drives in F3 and F2 cars, and even a Formula 1 test, showing his diverse skillset.
