Ryan Hunter-Reay, born on December 17, 1980, is a highly accomplished American racing driver. Best known for his achievements in IndyCar, Hunter-Reay secured the IndyCar Series championship in 2012 and the Indianapolis 500 in 2014. He was the first American driver to win both since Sam Hornish Jr. in 2006.
Hunter-Reay's career spans various racing disciplines, including the Champ Car World Series, where he claimed multiple victories, and sports car racing, with appearances in the American Le Mans Series and the IMSA Tudor United SportsCar Championship. His versatility and skill have earned him recognition as one of the most successful American open-wheel racing drivers. Nicknamed "Captain America," Hunter-Reay has 18 career IndyCar wins.
