Matteo Meneghello is an Italian racing driver born on June 8, 1981, in Abano Terme. A former karting rival of Fernando Alonso, Meneghello competed in karting championships from 1991 to 2000, demonstrating considerable potential early in his career. Notably, he led the final starting grid of the World Championship in 1995 and finished second behind Andre Lotterer, ahead of Alonso.
After transitioning from karting, Meneghello entered single-seater racing, starting with the Italian Formula Renault Elf Campus. He then moved to the Italian Formula 3 Federale in 2001. The following year, he participated in the Formula Renault 2000 Italy, achieving a best result of fifth place at the Pergusa GP in 2003. In 2004, he progressed to the Formula Renault V6 Eurocup and also competed in single races in both the Euro and FIA Formula 3000 series. He participated in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series in 2005 and 2006, securing a sixth-place finish at Monza in his last race.
In 2007, Meneghello moved into GT racing, partnering with Andrea Pellizzato in a Peroni race with a Dodge Viper. During 2008 and 2009, he participated in select races of the Italian GT Championship, achieving two podium finishes (third position) with a Porsche GT3 Cup alongside gentleman driver Riccardo Bianco. In 2010, Meneghello made a single appearance in the Superstars International Series, driving a Jaguar XF at Hockenheimring. While he initially held eighth position in the first race, an engine problem forced his retirement. As of February 2024, Matteo Meneghello is no longer actively involved in motorsports and is reportedly studying fine arts in Padua while also being involved in his family's transport business.
