Liam Dwyer is an American former sports car racing driver and a decorated United States Marine. Born on June 30, 1981, Dwyer served in the Marine Corps from 2000 to 2015, with deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan. In May 2011, while serving in Afghanistan, Staff Sergeant Dwyer suffered a life-altering injury when he stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED), resulting in the amputation of his left leg.

Despite this setback, Dwyer's passion for racing remained undeterred. He began attending track days after his return from Iraq in 2007 and further honed his skills at the Skip Barber Racing School. With the aid of a specially designed prosthetic, Dwyer overcame the challenges of driving with a disability. He uses a prosthesis that attaches to the clutch pedal, and began competing in vintage car racing in 2012 before joining the National Auto Sport Association the following year. He also participated in autocross and rallying.

Dwyer made his professional racing debut in the 2014 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge's ST class, driving a Mazda MX-5. That year, he secured a memorable victory at Lime Rock Park with teammate Tom Long. In 2015, Dwyer achieved another significant win at Laguna Seca, with his former Marine colleague, Sgt. Aaron Denning, who had rescued him after the 2011 explosion, present as his guest of honor. Dwyer's resilience and determination have made him an inspirational figure in the racing community.
