Jonathan Kane, born on May 14, 1973, is a British racing driver with a diverse and successful career spanning various levels of motorsport. Hailing from Comber, Northern Ireland, Kane began his racing journey in karting before transitioning to Formula Ford. His early career highlights include winning the 1994 British Formula Vauxhall Winter Series and the 1995 British Formula Opel Championship. He further solidified his reputation in British Formula 3, securing the championship title in 1997 with Paul Stewart Racing, amassing six race wins along the way.
Kane's career has seen him compete in a wide array of racing disciplines. After a brief stint in Formula 3000, he ventured to the United States, where he participated in Indy Lights, achieving two victories and finishing fourth in the 1999 season with Team KOOL Green. He also served as a test driver for the Arrows Formula One team in 2001. A significant portion of Kane's career has been dedicated to sports car racing, including participation in the Le Mans Series and the American Le Mans Series, driving for renowned manufacturers such as Aston Martin. He made his FIA GT debut in 2005 and has since raced for TVR and Spyker.
Since 2006, Kane has been a consistent presence at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with his best result being a 5th overall finish in 2010, which also marked an LMP2 class victory for Strakka Racing in their HPD ARX-01C. In 2010, he achieved a historic win at the 1000 km of Hungaroring, co-driving an LMP2 car to outright victory, a first for its class. More recently, Kane has been involved in the Intercontinental GT Challenge and has also taken on driver coaching roles, including with the Pure GT McLaren series and the W series.
