Jaroslav "Jarek" Janiš, born on July 8, 1983, is a Czech auto racing driver with a diverse career spanning various racing disciplines. Janiš began his racing journey in go-karts, achieving significant success with multiple international Czech championships. He transitioned to single-seaters, showcasing his talent in the German Formula Ford series, where he finished 2nd overall in 2000, and later in Formula 3000, securing 3rd place overall in the European series in 2002.
In 2003, Janiš gained experience as a test driver for the Jordan Formula 1 team. The following year, he became the first Czech driver to compete in the Champ Car World Series, making his debut for Dale Coyne Racing. He also participated in Formula Nippon in Japan in 2005 and represented A1 Team Czech Republic in the A1 Grand Prix series.
Janiš has also made his mark in GT racing, competing in the FIA GT Championship and achieving victories at Brno, Dijon, and the Hungaroring in 2006. He has participated in prestigious events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with his best finish being 25th overall in 2009. More recently, he has been active in GT3 racing and has collaborated with Šenkýř Motorsport as an engineer in the FIA CEZ and International GT Open series since 2017. His younger brother, Erik Janiš, is also a racing driver.
