Jaime Melo Jr., born on April 24, 1980, is a Brazilian racing driver who has carved a successful career, particularly in grand tourer racing. Melo began his racing journey in Brazilian Formula Ford in 1996 before progressing to South American Formula 3, where he finished as vice-champion twice. In 2002, he won the Euro Formula 3000 Championship.
Melo is most recognized for his achievements driving Ferraris in GT racing. His most successful period was between 2006 and 2009. In 2006, he secured the FIA GT Championship in the GT2 class with AF Corse. The following year, he replicated this success in the American Le Mans Series with Risi Competizione. During this peak, he claimed GT2/GT class victories in prestigious endurance races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans (2008, 2009), 12 Hours of Sebring (2007, 2009, 2010) and Petit Le Mans (2008, 2009).
Throughout his career, Melo has participated in various racing series, including the FIA World Endurance Championship. While his career faced significant disruption due to off-track issues, his earlier achievements firmly establish him as a notable figure in GT racing.
