Garth Walden, born on December 6, 1981, is an accomplished Australian racing driver with a career spanning various motorsport disciplines. The son of Sydney-based race car builder and driver Brian Walden, Garth's journey began in go-karts at the age of seven, followed by a successful stint in Speedway bikes. He transitioned to circuit racing in 1996, making his debut in 1998 at Oran Park driving a LJ Torana Sports Sedan.
Walden's career includes participation in V8 Supercars, Australian Formula 3, the Australian Production Car Championship, and the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia. He has also secured multiple outright titles in Radical Cup Australia, the NSW Supersports Championship, and World Time Attack. Notably, he achieved a class win at the Bathurst 6 Hour. In 2024, Walden received a late call-up to race at Le Mans in the Road to Le Mans support races, marking his first time at the iconic circuit. He currently competes in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Championship, sharing a RAM Motorsport / GWR Australia Mercedes-AMG GT3 with Mike Sheargold, and recently secured an Am Class victory at the Bathurst 3 Hour.
Beyond his driving career, Walden is the owner of GWR Australia, a motorsport team based in Sydney. Founded in 2014, GWR Australia manages a large fleet of cars across various national and state-level categories. The team offers a comprehensive motorsport package, including race car preparation, driver training, and race engineering. GWR Australia has celebrated its 10th anniversary, reflecting on numerous successes and its contribution to Australian motorsport.
