Bernd Schneider, born on July 20, 1964, is a highly accomplished German racing driver. Named after the legendary Bernd Rosemeyer, Schneider began his motorsport journey in karts, quickly demonstrating his talent. He secured the German Junior Kart Championship at 15, followed by the World Junior Kart title the next year and the European Formula A title in 1982.
Schneider transitioned to Formula Ford and then Formula 3, winning the German Formula 3 title in 1987. This success led him to Formula 1 with the Zakspeed team. After a brief stint in F1, he shifted his focus to touring cars, achieving considerable success in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM).
Bernd Schneider became a dominant force in DTM and GT racing, winning his first DTM title in 1995. He also won the FIA GT Championship in 1997. When the DTM was revived in 2000, Schneider continued his dominance, clinching the title in 2000, 2001, and 2003. He added a further DTM title in 2006, making him a five-time DTM champion. Schneider retired from racing in 2008, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most successful touring car drivers.
