Loris Capirossi, born on April 4, 1973, is a retired Italian Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. "Capirex," as he's known to fans, had an impressive career spanning 21 years (1990-2011), marking him as one of the longest-tenured racers in the sport. Capirossi's career began with a bang, securing the 125cc World Championship in 1990 at the young age of 17 years and 165 days, making him the youngest rider to ever win a world title at the time. He would repeat this feat in 1991, solidifying his dominance in the class.
His success extended to the 250cc class, where he clinched another World Championship in 1998 while riding for Aprilia. Capirossi transitioned to the premier 500cc class in 1995 and later MotoGP, riding for teams like Honda, Yamaha, Ducati, and Suzuki. In 2010, he became the first rider to start 300 races. Throughout his premier class career, he achieved 9 wins and 42 podium finishes.
Since retiring from racing, Capirossi has remained involved in the sport, currently serving as Safety Advisor to Dorna Sports, the commercial rights holder of Grand Prix motorcycle racing.
