Heiko Hammel

Heiko Hammel is a German racing driver with experience in various racing series. Born on July 16, 1988, Hammel began his motorsport journey early, entering karting at the age of five and becoming a German kart champion just three years later. He ended his karting career at fifteen and transitioned to the Toyota Yaris Cup.

Hammel has achieved success in various German racing series, including a podium finish in the ADAC GT Masters, championships and individual victories in the Toyota Yaris Cup and Seat Leon Supercopa, the DTC Champion title in 2014, and an overall podium finish at the VLN in 2017. In 2017, Hammel piloted the Renault R.S. 01, contributing to its setup. In 2024, Hammel participated in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, driving for eFuel Team Griesemann and Max Kruse Racing in the AT class. He also competed in the ADAC Ravenol 24h Nürburgring and the Intercontinental GT Challenge. In June 2024, he participated in the Nürburgring 24 Hours race driving a VW Golf GTI Clubsport 24h.

Hammel has described the Renault R.S. 01 as agile due to its stiff carbon chassis, good aerodynamics, and direct handling, making it suitable for the Nordschleife. When not racing, Hammel maintains his fitness through gym workouts, running, and cycling. He also analyzes onboard videos to learn from his own and other drivers' experiences.
