Jyrki Juhani Järvilehto (born January 31, 1966), most famously known as JJ Lehto, is a Finnish former racing driver who competed in Formula One from 1989 to 1994. Lehto began his racing career in karts at the age of eight and quickly progressed through the ranks, becoming a protege of Finland's 1982 Formula One World Champion, Keke Rosberg. Rosberg played an instrumental role in Lehto's early success, even suggesting that Jyrki Järvilehto shorten his name to the more manageable JJ Lehto. Before F1, he dominated the Scandinavian Formula Ford and won British and European Formula 2000 championships.
In Formula One, Lehto drove for the Onyx, Scuderia Italia, Sauber, and Benetton teams, participating in 70 Grands Prix and securing a podium finish at the 1991 San Marino Grand Prix with Scuderia Italia. While a Formula One World Championship eluded him, Lehto found significant success in sports car racing.
After his Formula 1 career, Lehto excelled in GT and sports car racing. He won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, in 1995 and 2005. Furthermore, in 2004, he won the American Le Mans Series and, twice, the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1999 and 2005. Post-racing, Lehto became a commentator and pundit for MTV3 in Finland.
