Munro's career took off in 2013 when he won the New Zealand Formula Ford Championship, securing an impressive ten victories out of fifteen races. He then progressed to the Toyota Racing Series, a prominent racing series in New Zealand, where he won a race at Timaru and finished seventh overall in the championship. In the same year, he also competed in the Formula Pilota China series, winning the championship with Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG, with a remarkable start of six consecutive wins.

In 2015, Munro participated in the inaugural F4 Japanese Championship but left after two rounds. He also took part in the Sepang 12 Hours race, finishing eleventh overall and winning the Pro-Am class. Later in the season, he joined KCMG for the Asian Le Mans Series. After his racing career, Munro transitioned to coaching and is now a performance coach for kayaking and multisport athletes. He represented New Zealand on the world stage in kayaking.
