Danny Formal, born on December 23, 1995, is a Costa Rican racing driver with a diverse and impressive background in motorsports. From his early days karting in Costa Rica, where he became a national champion in both Four-Cycle Endurance and Indoor Karting, Formal has consistently demonstrated his talent and dedication. Progressing through the karting ranks, he achieved significant success both in Costa Rica and the United States, eventually transitioning to sports car racing in 2020.
Formal has become a prominent figure in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series, securing consecutive PRO Drivers' Championship titles in 2022 and 2023 with Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR), partnering with Kyle Marcelli. Their dominance in 2023 saw them sweep the first eight rounds of the competition, solidifying their championship victory ahead of the World Finals. In 2024, he also achieved the position of Vice Champion in the PRO Class. Beyond his Super Trofeo achievements, Formal has expanded his racing resume with WTR, participating in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup, including the prestigious 24 Hours at DAYTONA. In 2024, driving the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2, he secured a GTD pole position at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
His karting achievements include multiple S1 Pro World Championships (2015, 2016), Champion of Costa Rica DD2 (2015, 2016, 2017), and KZ Supernats World Champion (2019, 2023). Currently, Formal continues his partnership with Wayne Taylor Racing, competing in both the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTD class. In 2025, he is joined by Hampus Ericsson in the Super Trofeo series, while continuing to develop as a leading driver in the GTD class.
