Thomas Preining, born on July 21, 1998, is an Austrian racing driver who has quickly made a name for himself in the world of motorsports. Hailing from Linz, Austria, Preining's career began in karting, where he showcased his talent by becoming the European Kart champion in 2014. His success in karting paved the way for a transition to single-seater racing, competing in both the ADAC and Italian Formula 4 championships.

In 2017, Preining shifted his focus to sports car racing, joining the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. The 2018 season proved to be a breakthrough year, as he dominated the competition, winning 10 of 14 races and securing the championship title. His impressive performances earned him a spot as a Porsche factory driver, a position he has held since 2017. Preining's versatility extends beyond GT racing, as he has also served as a test driver for Porsche's Formula E program. In 2023, he won the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) championship.

Preining's achievements include winning the 24 Hours of Dubai in 2018 and becoming the first DTM winner for Porsche at the Norisring in 2022. He has expressed his ambition to win major 24-hour races like Le Mans, Daytona, and Nürburgring. In February 2025, Preining participated in the Formula E rookie free practice session in Jeddah with Porsche.
