Arthur Abrahams is a semi-retired Australian race car driver born on November 6, 1955. A stalwart of Australian motorsport, Abrahams carved out a successful career in open-wheel racing, most notably in Australian Formula 2, where he clinched the championship title in 1987 driving a Cheetah Mk8, as well as in 1991 and 1993. He also secured the Australian Endurance Championship (Up to 1600cc Class) in 1982. These victories served as a springboard to compete in International Sportscars in Europe and American open wheel racing cars, demonstrating his versatility and ambition on the global stage.
Beyond Formula 2, Abrahams participated in Formula Brabham/Holden for three years, from 1994 to 1996. Later, he transitioned to team ownership, running the NRC International team in Formula Holden and supporting drivers like Dale Brede in the V8 Supercar Development Series. In 2001, Abrahams stepped away from the sport to concentrate on his family business interests. He is currently the managing director of the Loucom Group in Morabbin, Victoria, a family-run firm involved in investment, food production, finance brokerage, property assets, and storage facilities.
Although he retired from racing in 1999 and devoted himself to business, Arthur Abrahams' contributions to Australian motorsport remain significant. His successes in Formula 2 and endurance racing, coupled with his later involvement as a team owner, have solidified his place in Australian racing history. He is married to Diane Abrahams, and they have two daughters, Kylie and Py.
