Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson, born on October 1, 1992, is an American racing driver who competes in the IMSA Michelin Pilot SportsCar Challenge driving a Hyundai. Johnson's journey in motorsports is marked by perseverance and determination. An accident at the age of 12 left him paralyzed, but it didn't stop him from pursuing his passion for racing. He is recognized as the first and only paralyzed driver to be licensed by INDYCAR.

Johnson's racing career includes karting, where he achieved significant success, including a "Driver of the Year" award in 2007. He transitioned to racing cars with modified hand controls and achieved multiple wins and podium finishes in the Skip Barber series. He further advanced to the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda series.

Currently, Johnson competes in the IMSA Michelin Pilot SportsCar Challenge. He is inspired by racing trailblazers like Alex Zanardi and Danica Patrick. His story is one of overcoming adversity and demonstrating that anything is possible. Johnson was inducted into the Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame and received the Spirit Award in 2012 for his impressive career and athletic determination.
